Meet at our office (in the HUB). Letter Writing -contact Anne Horst to get involved -Next week on Thursday at 9:30pm in the KMY lounge we'll be having a time for students to write letters -We'll provide envelopes, stamps, information, (etc?) -This might become a regular event (perhaps twice a month). -Issues we may write about in the near future include: columbian COs, peace tax, nuclear disarmement, and further off: environmental issues Social Event this Friday at 4pm 40 students are coming from Andrews University from a class called, "philosophies for service". They want to meet us to talk about peace, peacemaking, what we've been up to, socialize, etc. They meet with Lauren Friesen beforehand. Andrews is Seventh Day Adventist. There is a social at 4pm on Friday with coffee and cookies in the Koinonia room (college church somewhere). Please come. Janna is going to talk to someone (Phyllis Stutzman?) about mediation training and also enquire at the Window to get us another date for volunteering in the soup kitchen. DISCUSSION After the above were talked about we had a time of discussion that kind of rambled so it is hard to organize it but i'll try. -What is our response to Dr. Coffin's challenge to us? None. Nothing is happening. -Norm like the alternative chapel idea (hold alternative chapels at the same time as regular ones to discuss different issues, perhaps small groups) -The idea of an alternative publication came up. The idea is to provide a forum for bringing up national and global issues, and also discussing them as well as campus issues. "information and interpretation", "awareness raising" -The publication is going to need several editors, several information gatherers, and several people who find people to interpret and give their opinion on an issue. -Contact Reuben or me (Aaron) if you are interested in the publication, alternative chapels, or getting LGBA club status. -Issue of LGBA's lack of club status was raised as an injustice, a denial of means of communication. -Should we use current structures or create new ones? A question that was related to whether we need a new publication or should use the Record. Next Week: meeting at 5:40pm on Tuesday Thursday 3:15pm, our office: help load van, deliver clothes that we collected Friday 4pm, Koinonia room: social with 40 students from Andrews University Please feel free to correct me or give me suggestions on doing minutes. Your fallible minute taker and sharer, Aaron.
