May 12 1997   the Minutes!

1. Jeff talked about how his father has been elected president of the Elkhart
County River Restoration Association.  He also plans to get involved, so if you
are interested in that contact Jeff...

2. TCI Petition: One issue for next fall is trying to petition TCI (the local
cable company) to get them to include Univision (a spanish station based in
California?) with the basic service.

3. Execution of Willie Enoch
Willie Enoch is scheduled for execution on May 21 at midnight (I'm assuming
tuesday night) in Peoria, Ilinois.  If the execution is not postponed, almost
everyone at the meeting agreed to go vigil outside of the prison.  Currently
the webpage is not working (its www.wenoch.com), so I'm trying to figure out
what is up with the case.  Stay tuned for more details as they come.

4. We agreed to nominate Brooke and Anne for the student leadership retreat
that happens a week before school starts (and includes RAs, Student Senate,
club leaders, CAC, etc).

5. Keep in mind for next year: Pax plans to keep meeting at 5:40pm on Tuesdays
(so remember to fix your schedule around that in the fall).

6. We formed a startup group for next fall of people who are going to be around 
and will be able to get Pax going in the beginning of the new school year.

7. We decided that making PAX club t-shirts was a good project.  Contact Jeff
or Tim with your ideas, or if you feel you deserve one even though you
missed / don't attend meetings.

8. Anyone interested in the "Goshen Downtown Project", namely arranging a
directory of downtown Goshen businesses (as an alternative to say shopping at
Walmart), should bring feet or a bike and meet at 9am this Wednesday in
Westlawn Circle.

Next Meeting: If we go to the execution on Tuesday then the meeting will be
enroute.  If there is no execution, or if it is on Wednesday night, then we will
have a meeting to talk about t-shirts (and other stuff?) at 5:40pm on Tuesday.
