DESCRIPTION:America's last wild buffalo are being slaughtered - please help
us stop it!\n\nThe Buffalo Field Campaign is organizing a memorial servic

nd the National Park Service. We urge people who care about wild buffalo
and wild lands to speak out in powerful silence to stop the slaughter\, wh
ile we mourn the loss of those already gone. We will stand between the St
ate Capitol and the Montana Department of Livestock in protest of the cont
inued hazing\, capture\, testing\, and slaughter of America's last wild bu
ffalo\, and to mourn the senseless deaths of nearly 300 killed this year a
lone - killed with millions of your federal tax dollars. The buffalo's su
pposed crime is one they have never committed: transmitting the disease b
rucellosis to livestock. It has never occurred. Our public lands in Mont
ana are being cut off from American buffalo for the sake of cattle that ar
e never there. Stand with us in silent protest... and mourning. \n\nWear b

DESCRIPTION:Dear Sisters and Brothers\,\n \nIn Iraq\, the people's resistan

 S. diplomats and military officers now acknowledge that the war is 'unwinn

public believe the invasion of Iraq was a mistake\, and 55% believe that
the war has made the U.S. more vulnerable to terrorism.\n \nAs you know\,
the phony transfer of 'sovereignty' from the U.S. occupation forces to the
new puppet Iraqi government is scheduled for Wednesday\, June 30. Protest

 * the immediate\, unconditional withdrawal of U.S. and allied forces from
Iraq\n\n* no internationalization of the Iraq occupation by U.N.\, N.A.T

DESCRIPTION:Get-Out-The-Vote The Wellstone Way \n\n\nWellstone Action Fund
announces two special get-out-the-vote (GOTV) trainings. These 2-day pract
ical skills trainings will be held in September in Seattle (September 11 &
  12) and Cleveland (September 18 & 19). The trainings are designed especi
ally for individuals and non-profit organizations doing non-partisan voter
registration\, education and mobilization.\n\nThe late Senator Paul Wells
tone was deeply committed to citizen activism and engagement in the politi
cal process. He believed that ordinary people need to organize and develop
the skills necessary to be effective participants in their community and
nation. These training programs draw heavily from the lessons passed on to
us from Paul Wellstone.\n\nThe GOTV trainings will have an exclusive focu
s on the final push to get-out-the-vote\, including the elements of an eff
ective\, energetic and winning GOTV effort. It will cover work at the door
\, on the phone\, recruiting volunteers\, absentee ballot and early vote r
ules\, voter protection\, vote by mail programs and working with the media
. The training will also provide a step-by-step guide for mobilizing voter
s in the final weeks before the election and on Election Day itself.\n\nMa
ny groups and individuals have been doing exciting and innovative work to
register and educate voters. Now is the time to bring it all together by m
otivating people to get to the polls.\n\nTo sign up online\,visit www.well

DESCRIPTION:Dear Friends\,\n\nOn behalf of Michigan State University Studen
ts for Peace and Justice\, I would like to invite you to attend our upcomi
ng conference\, Disarm!: Sustaining Resistance to Militarism on Campus\, t
o be held at Michigan State University on Saturday\, October 30\, 2004. T
his conference is an exciting opportunity for college students from all ov
er Michigan to come together and learn about the relationship between our
educational institutions and the corporate-military-complex. \n\nThe conf
erence will feature keynote speaker Frida Berrigan of the World Policy Ins
titute at the New School for Social Research. Dr. Berrigan has published
widely about the cost of war and U.S. policies abroad. In addition to our
conference\, Dr. Berrigan is willing to set up additional speaking engage
ments at other institutions in Michigan before or after the conference. A
rrangements can be made for her to speak at your school by contacting Cath
y Mazak at cathymazak@yahoo.com.\n\nConference sessions will cover topics
such as:\n∑ How to do research into militarism on your campus. \n∑ Ge
tting and using Freedom of Information Act documents. \n∑ Where does the
university’s money come from? \n∑ Tactics for disassociating the univ
ersity from militarism. \n∑ International law and the university: accoun
tability issues. \n∑ How do faculty members voice their objections to mi
litarism? \n\nAt the end of the conference\, groups will have time and s
pace to meet\, in a caucus format\, to plan the next steps for their campu
s\, based on information learned at the conference.\n\nWe believe that\, a
s young people\, we should be able to learn and work without contributing
to the military or the corporate-military-complex. We envision a world wh
ere our educational institutions do not depend on money and resources from
the military or military corporations\, where people do not need to join
the military to pay for their education\, and where our intellectual work
serves the ends of peace and justice\, not militarism and war. \n\nThe co
nference aims to educate college groups about their school’s role in mil
itarism\, and to help those groups take effective steps to organize agains
t it. Our goal is to disarm our universities. We hope that you will join
us on October 30. To register for the conference\, got to our conference

cure dwindling food\, water and energy supplies'. It's authors warn that
climate change should be considered 'immediately' as a top political and
military issue. \n\nAs students from around California we have an unprecid
ented opportunity to affect the course of history. Due largely to student
pressure\, the UC system passed a landmark policy last summer for renewa

the United States government will have yet another reason to take swift

nJoin us at the Yorktown Rally for Social Justice on Saturday\, June 25\,
2005\, at Yorktown Battlefield at Colonial National Historical Park in Yor
ktown\, Virginia. THIS IS A RAIN-OR-SHINE EVENT ... dress appropriately fo
r the weather. \n\nAccording to Phil Stinson\, president of the Center for
Education Rights ('CER')\, 'CER is organizing and hosting the Yorktown Ra
lly for Social Justice as a forum for a peaceful and educational rally as
an alternative to the hate rally of the National Socialist Movement (NSM)\
, KKK\, Aryan Nation\, and Skinheads that will be held on the same day\, J
une 25th\, at the Colonial National Historical Park in Yorktown\, Virginia
.' \n\nThe Anti-Defamation League says that the NSM is the second largest
neo-Nazi group in the country\, trailing only the National Alliance. While
some neo-Nazi organizations prefer blazers to brown shirts\, this Minneap
olis-based hate group is a throwback to the 1960's-era American Nazi Party
\, from which it descended\; members wear Nazi uniforms and openly display
swastikas to a degree unusual even among white supremacists. This explici
t Nazi imagery apparently has not hurt its stature or standing on the raci
st right\; in recent years it has grown considerably in membership and inf
luence\, with dozens of chapters across the country. Part of the reason fo
r the group's growth has been its appeal to racist skinheads and other you
ng white supremacists\, who join in NSM activities ranging from literature
distribution to armed paramilitary training. \n\nOur values: social just
 ice\, diversity\, tolerance\, and non-violence.\n\nOur rallies: family-fr
 iendly fun\, peace-filled activities\, vibrant live music\, and thought-pr
ovoking words.\n\nNOTE: We are also looking for student activists to sprea

DESCRIPTION:\nALBION\, MI – Albion College Peace Action will hold a teach-i
n for peace and justice activists all day on Saturday\, April 9\, 2005\, a
t Albion College to mark the 40th anniversary of the famous University of
Michigan Teach-In against the Vietnam War. \n\nThe “Michigan Teach-In on P
eace and Justice”—organized by Albion College students—was conceived initi
ally in protest against the Bush administration’s war in Iraq. Student or
ganizers\, noting the lack of genuine debate in much of the mainstream med
ia\, say they also hope to foster debate and activism on peace and justice
issues at the grassroots level in Michigan. \n\nAlbion College Peace Acti
on is a student-run group of activists at Albion College in Albion\, Michi
gan. \n\n“We hope that Michigan Teach-In on Peace and Justice will encoura
ge students and community members from all around Michigan to focus on pea
ce and justice issues—and ultimately channel our shared concern into the b
 eginnings of a stronger\, more organized movement\,” said Laura Jordan\, p
resident of Peace Action and an Albion College senior from Flint. \n\n“Un
fortunately\, the mass media's virtual monopoly on public dialogue leaves
us with little space for meaningful\, independent dialogue on the pressing
issues of peace and justice. Now there is a deep need for such dialogue\
,” Jordan said. \n\nThe original teach-in\, held four decades ago in Ann A
rbor\, was a seminal moment in the escalation of the anti-war movement nat
ionally\, ultimately forcing Lyndon Johnson from the presidency in 1968.
\n\nThe April 9 event will consist of renowned speakers\, workshops\, str
ategy sessions\, films\, music\, and poetry readings. The teach-in will br
ing together activists from the anti-Vietnam War movement and other social
justice activists from the 1960s with a new generation of students commit
ted to peaceful social change. \n\nConfirmed speakers include Staughton Ly
nd\, lifelong pacifist\, Quaker and labor attorney form California\; Bill
Davis\, Vietnam Veterans against the War\; Joel Geier\, a member of the 19
64 Berkeley Free Speech Movement\; Sherry Wolf\, an editor of the Internat
 ional Socialist Review\, a Chicago-based magazine\; Bille Wickre\, Albion
College associate professor of art history\; and Greg Martin of the Wesley
Fellowship of the United Methodist Church in Ann Arbor. \n\nAlbion Colleg
e Peace Action seeks to help build peace and justice movements on campuses
and in communities around the state and around the country while increasi
ng cooperation and unity among activists. \n\n“In my mind\, in a very prac
tical sense Americans have no choice but to be extremely concerned with is
sues of peace and justice\,” Jordan said. “Young people are dying\, innoce
nt civilians' lives are being violently disrupted\, we've alienated our al
lies\, our job prospects are dim\, and our collective disregard for the en
vironment is giving us cancer. We really have no room to do anything but p
lace a higher emphasis on questions of peace and justice.” \n\nAlbion Col
lege President Peter T. Mitchell\, a strong proponent of student activism
and open dialogue on campus\, applauded the efforts of Peace Action. \n\n“
At the core of the liberal arts tradition is a commitment to civic engagem
ent\, thoughtful reflection on the issues facing our nation\, and sincere
efforts to forge bonds of understanding\,” Mitchell said. “A good liberal
arts education should equip students with critical thinking and communicat
ions skills to help improve the human condition and usher in a world of pe
ace and justice. The ‘Teach-In on Peace and Justice’ offers a venue for s
tudents of diverse opinions to speak honestly\, responsibly and sensitivel
y to these issues\, and in the process come to a deeper understanding and
greater commitment to be agents of peace and reconciliation on our campus
and in our world.” \n\nThe event is free with donations welcome\, and the
public is encouraged to attend. It will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Satu
 rday\, April 9\, 2005\, at Albion College in Albion\, Mich. Registration b

DESCRIPTION:Admission is free (bring your lunch)9:00AM-5:00PM\nPlaces of wo
rship have unique advantages often ignored by activists: regular weekly ca
ptive audience\, system for collecting\, disbursing and reporting funds\,
tax exempt privileges for donors\, opportunities for networking and missio
ns that are largely centered around loving\, caring and serving humanity.
For example\; “…the Son of man came not to be served but to serve others a
nd give his life…” Jesus of Nazareth. In a materialistic culture\, places
of worship need the enthusiasm\, zeal and dynamism of activists if they ar
e to remain alive and relevant in society. Activists need to listen\, lear
n and communicate with people outside their group. Torli Krua is seeking t
o organize small groups of human rights activists within churches. Their m
ission is to inspire\, inform and involve parishioners in the real world t
hrough advocacy\, fundraising and cross-culture dialogue to benefit local
and national grassroots and community-based organizations. This workshop
is intended to target evangelical Christians. However\, it will certainly
benefit anyone serious about communicating with other human beings from di
verse backgrounds\, religions\, cultures and ethnicity. Presented by Torl
 i Krua\, President\, universal Human Rights International\
