Some of Seattle's best peacekeeper trainers will present a Two-Day session of ADVANCED PEACEKEEPER TRAINING. This will include in-depth information and skills, support for planning and providing peacekeeper services in more complex and varied situations, etc. Peacekeepers help our rallies, marches, and other events be safe and effective. We want our public activities for peace and social justice to be able to make their points clearly and effectively, without disruption by hecklers or other people with different agendas. We want to be able to move safely through the streets and in other settings. Trained peacekeepers can help our events be satisfying and safe for participants and successful in achieving our goals. Specifics vary from event to event, of course. In general, events that are safe and nonviolent are more welcoming for new people, people with limited physical abilities, and children to join our peace & justice movements. In Olympia we have found that peacekeepers can empower the movement to provide our own security, allowing the police to feel comfortable to hang back out of the way. Brownbag lunch and light refreshments. Cost will be on a sliding-scale basis. Sponsored by the Olympia Fellowship of Reconciliation.
